WALSTEAD Appoints José Maria Camacho
Walstead Group, the €490 million revenue pan-European commercial printing group, announces today it has appointed José Maria Camacho as Chief Executive Officer of Walstead Iberia, its Spanish division.
Until July this year, Mr. Camacho was Chief Executive Officer and a major shareholder in CirclePrinters, a €340 million revenue web offset and gravure printing group in Europe.
Paul Utting, Chief Executive Officer of Walstead, commented: „We are delighted that José is joining our team and I look forward to working with him. Walstead Iberia Limited comprises Eurohueco S.A., a gravure printing business near Barcelona, and Rotocobrhi S.A., a web offset printing business near Madrid. The two companies, which employ 552 and generated revenues of EUR €120 million in the year ending 31 December 2015, were acquired by Walstead from Bertelsmann in April 2015. Debbie Read, a Walstead Group director, has been managing Walstead Iberia in addition to her primary role as Group Commercial Director. Following Walstead’s acquisition of Austrian-based Leykam Let’s Print in June, Ms. Read has resumed her focus on group-wide commercial projects.
Walstead Group Limited is headquartered in London and is the largest commercial web offset printing business in Europe with revenues of EUR €490 million. Founded in 2008, Walstead has completed eight acquisitions and now employs over 2,300 staff at 12 production facilities in the UK, Spain, Austria, Czech Republic and Slovenia. The group operates 45 web offset and four gravure printing presses which together process over 600,000 tonnes of paper annually. Walstead specialises in printing high volume promotional flyers and leaflets for major European retailers, catalogues, brochures, magazines and newspaper supplements.
José Maria Camacho, 42, lives in Madrid, and studied Business Administration at the Universidad Complutense and International Business at the Swedish Business School. He worked in the paper industry in Helsinki and New York before starting in the printing industry with EINSA, the Spanish directory printing specialist. He joined Quebecor World in 2002 and was Managing Director of the group’s Barcelona operations until 2007, when he was appointed to the presidency of the group in Spain. After Quebecor World Europe was acquired by CirclePrinters in June 2008, Mr. Camacho stayed in this position until February 2011, when he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of CirclePrinters and moved to their headquarters in Amsterdam. He sold his shareholding and resigned from CirclePrinters in June 2016.
