Walstead announces major investment at its Spanish web-offset plant
LONDON, 10 November 2017: Walstead Group, the €490 million revenue pan-European commercial printing group, announces today its decision to invest in a Goss Sunday 96pp press at its Rotocobrhi plant in Tres Cantos, Madrid (Spain).
The state of the art press with a maximum reel width of 286 cm was previously installed at the Polestar Sheffield site and will be installed at Rotocobrhi in 2018. The press will be upgraded with the latest technology across all its functionalities and will be equipped with two folders allowing for the most versatile array of products in the market.
José M. Camacho, CEO of Walstead Iberia, commented: “We are delighted that the Board at Walstead Group has approved this ambitious plan that will see Rotocobrhi strengthen its production and service capabilities and consolidating its leadership in the Iberian market, not only in the short term but also for the years to come”.
Paul Utting, Walstead Group CEO: “Walstead’s strategy is to acquire market leading businesses and to continually develop them in line with market requirements. The web offset industry is extremely competitive and only the strongest and most innovative operators will prosper in the long term. Rotocobrhi is a very efficient and productive plant and with this investment we are confident that it will continue being the printer of choice for many publishers and retailers in its main markets of Spain, Portugal and France. This press had only been in operation for a number of months before the Polestar closure so is effectively a new press and this together with the already modern suite of presses on the site will help to deliver long term competitiveness of the business.’
